How do I check my hosting account for viruses?

If, for some reason, you need to check your hosting account for viruses, just follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Once logged in, scroll down to the Advanced section.
  3. Click on Virus Scanner.
  4. On the next page you will have the option to scan your mail (email accounts), entire home directory, public web files (usually your site files), or public FTP files. Choose your preference and click Scan Now.
  5. On the next screen you'll see a status bar where you'll see the progress of the virus scan. Note: The more files scanned will result in a long scan, especially if you keep copies of email on the server.
